Suzie and Mike's November wedding day, now well over a month past, is a glittering, golden picture in my mind. In every way, the day sparkled: Suzie's golden hair and sparkling eyes, the clear, crisp November day, the dry, golden grasses Suzie's dress floated over in the open field high on the banks of the CT river, the sunlight through bare branches and roping bittersweet. Even Suzie's rhinestone brooch-dappled bouquet (loved this detail!), and be-sparkled shoes added to the day's glittery quality...But most of all, it was the spark between the bride and groom that lit up the day: the way Suzie (with her Reese Whitherspoon/girl next door/fresh faced smile) sparkled with beauty and joy all day, and the shine in Mike's eyes during their first look and as he watched his veiled bride grace the aisle, such a solemn and significant moment. Both the ceremony and reception took place in Haddam, CT (shout out to to my hometown!) at the Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station overlooking the Connecticut River. After the ceremony, with less than an hour of sunlight left, the Suzie and Mike decided they would brave the cold for some more photos at Goodspeed Station, and our crowning photo destination, the historic East Haddam bridge. It was rush hour on a Friday, and the flow of traffic was constant, but the groom's father braved it, and stopped traffic so the entire wedding party and I could barrel onto the bridge for a full wedding party shot. In less than a minute, the bridal party arranged themselves into a pose, and Mike dipped Suzie, making for one of the crowning shots of the day! Then we hurried back to the warmth of the Riverhouse for a night of dinner, dancing, and revelry. It was a wonderful celebration to end Suzie and Mike's golden wedding day. They are such a natural, kind-spirited, good-natured pair, and it was such a pleasure to document their glistening November day...
Suzie's golden locks...
The boys enjoy some guy time with poker and beer (juice for some participants) in the "guy cave."
Their sweet first look.
Suzie's bridesmaids assume the tedious task of picking off the thousands of little seeds and burs that attached to Suzie's dress during our romp through the field.
Through the bittersweet...
Some photos at Goodspeed Station.
Stopping traffic for the bridge shot!
A very proud dad.
