Melissa and Dean: wedding

Melissa and I were extremely close when we were young girls at the cusp of adolescence, and so documenting her wedding was especially significant for me. At a time when everyone is uncertain and apprehensive, tip-toeing around identity, Melissa was already there: irrevocably herself, fiercly and completely. With Melissa by your side, every day is an adventure, life is colorful, and every minute lived full-throttle. It was so refreshing for me to reconnect with her, and see that she was still my Melissa--that two decades, college, a mortgage and a child hadn't dulled that spark--the big, bold personality, the precision and care for every detail, the energy and light that surround her. And that spark is reflected in her precious little girl, Charlotte. And to see Dean hold her on the dance floor, it is obvious to me that he sees that light more than anyone. Melissa designed and directed every detail of the decor, and the tent, with it's hundred white paper lanterns, and hints of blue everywhere, was so elegant. And once the reception started rolling, it was a celebration in every sense of the world. Below are some of my favorites...
