Laura and Joe: slideshow

At last, Laura and Joe's slideshow! Laura is the cousin of my fabulous photographer friend Erica Ferrone, and it was thanks to her being already booked that I got the chance to document their wedding (thanks darlin'). Laura and Joe obviously have such a healthy, strong connection, and everything about their wedding was natural, uncomplicated and elegant. Though it was obvious they weren't about modeling and hamming it up in front of the camera, it was so easy to capture their spirits when they were looking at each another. Oh my goodness, those curls on Joe! And then he grins this ridiculously adorable grin--ya can't help but melt! Just watch the slideshow--you'll be as smitten with them as Tara and I were...

Kristen and Mark: wedding

Kristen and Mark's wedding took place on tiny Cuttyhunk Island off of the coast of Cape Cod. The island is only one by two miles, and it has rolling hills with a smattering of lovely cottages that overlook a breathtaking coastline. Tara assisted me, and we got up really early to catch our water-taxi in New Bedford. The boat was enclosed in fog and the water was choppy, and once we arrived, all you could see of the ocean was a white blur ribboning the coastline. It was right about after the ceremony that the clouds burned off, surprising us all with the most stunning view of cerulean blue. Amazing. The ceremony was simple, understated, but charged. The star of the day was a black lab named Allie, who somehow made it into every formal photograph (even those the bride and groom didn't make the cut for :)Kristen thought of everything, and the color RED played throughout the day: the lobster, the paper lanterns, her fabulous Mary Janes. It was a frenzy of shooting the entire day, which ended abruptly when Tara and I realized we had but minutes to get to the ferry for the last crossing of the day. Then came a mad golf cart dash to the ferry (chauffered by the groom himself, who came out of nowhere, barreling down a hill and sweeping us and our equipment into the cart). We finally made it back to the shipyard from which we took the water taxi, only to find our cars locked behind two tall barbed wire fences. I squeezed through an opening in the fence only to find another between me and my car. At last, we were rescued by the shipyard owner's son, and were on our way--arriving home five hours after we left the wedding....But it was worth the toils--see below...

This wonderful shot of the flower dog was taken by lovely Tara Sen...

A sweet moment captured by Tara...

This is one of my favorite images of the entire day, also by Tara Lynn Sen...

Summer days...

This summer has been a whirlwind, and I can't believe it is waning already. We have settled into our new house, and though we have a million projects on the horizon, are loving our new home and town. My girls are a source of magic to me every day...

Viola Mary, 3.2 years: A creative, impetuous and charming little lass is my Viola! She is a little artist, a dreamer like me, with a vibrant imagination. Lately she declares that she is "pretending" a lot--and her imaginings are vivid (and often hilarious). Though she worries that there may be a buffalo lurking in the unfinished attic (Bugaboo Creek restaurant obsession gone awry), she has settled comfortably into her new home, and of late, has been mad about dressing and undressing and changing her dolls, and doing their hair. As for her own strawberry swirl of tresses, she refuses pigtails and requests just one pony every day (apparently pigtails are too "two years old" for her). Though she downs sippy cups as if it's her job, she has mastered the potty (even the night is not a problem)--hooray! Viola is my best friend, and she is affectionate and demanding, complicated and angelic, and in every way amazing to me.

Maeve Sheridan, 9 months next week: Oh what a little curious explorer I have on my hands. Maeve is eager to drink in this world around her, and she has no patience for being bound to someone's arms, exersaucer, carseat or high chair. She doesn't even have time to eat and drink these days. She nurses for a minute (or not at all) to her Mommy's disappointment (I nursed Viola to 15 months) and then twists herself out of my arms, and tries to nose dive onto the floor. And she outright refuses the bottle--so she is this teeny-tiny peanut; but she is super-strong, nimble and fast, skittering down the hallways like she owns the place, and pulling up, creeping along furniture, and trying to climb on everything in sight. She also learned to clap last week and is now starting to wave! She has this big new house to explore, and every corner holds some new treasure to investigate (and taste). With her tiny orange-fluff head, long skinny limbs, and so-pale-it's-almost-translucent skin, she is the mirror image of her big sis at this age--except for her dark eyes. They have not settled to a single color yet, and are simply charcoal. If you mixed blue, green, brown and black, you'd get this color. I think they will be brown like her Mom and Dad's but we may have to wait awhile. Oh yeah, and Maeve has a raspy voice! Really, it's so funny coming out of such a daintly little sprite. It's low and raspy, unlike Viola's clear-as-a-bell feminine timbre. She growls and grunts to get your attention (or reject feeding attempts). Maybe she'll be a sultry jazz singer someday. And Viola will be doing Italian arias (okay, I may be over-reaching :)

I realize I am writing this for myself more than anyone else...These days are magical, and they are flying. My loves are are growing up before my eyes and I am desperate to remember these moments! So on to some photos of my lil' lasses lolling away the summer days at their new home in Lynnfield!

To the left, the "imagination room" (a tiny room between the girls' bedrooms), and to the right, a body painting of a little fairy with goldenred hair and purple wings.

I just took these two last pictures today in my yard and had to add them...

I just love this face.

Courtney and Eric: wedding

Okay, so I can't help but post a zillion images from Courtney and Eric's amazing Cape Cod wedding. I absolutely adore Courtney; she is sweet, warm, sentimental, and so genuine, and her beautiful personality came through in every aspect of her day. There were so many meaningful details and so many rich moments that Tara and I were snapping like crazy all day...Check out some of my favorites below!

I LOVED capturing Courtney's gorgeousness against the deep blue of the wall in her bridal suite.

Courtney's mom embroidered this patch with hers and Eric's initials--how sweet.

Can ya tell how much I dug Courtney's accessories?

Check out those curls! She warmed up to me eventually :)

Courtney's sister's sweet response when Courtney's friend sang.

I was a little obsessed with this vibrant sunlit tree....

Courtney and Eric, it was such a pleasure getting to know you over these last two years! Your day was magical, and I was honored to be the one to capture it for you.
