Sweet Baby Gavin

Dear blog, I am so sorry I have been neglecting you of late. But I have just the collection of photos to make up for my absence. Meet little Gavin, who is now almost four months old and now not so tiny a fella. But I got to to meet the little peanut when he was only one week old, and he was an absolute dream to photograph! The little angel did have some quips with the process, but like magic, whenever I pointed my lens at his perfect little cheeks, he would snuggle softly to sleep (with the exception of a few face-scrunches of frustration, which were just as cute to capture). But there was no crying, even when we brought him to the neighbor's gorgeous Victorian home and put him in a box on their porch, despite the blustery cold! He was a perfect little peach. Thank you, my lovely friend Lorrinda, for giving me the honor of capturing Gavin at his tiniest. I am so happy you and Jerry have completed your family, and I can't wait to photograph the little butterball again!

Baby Reed {Newborn}

I went to Charlestown to meet sweet baby Reed when he was only two weeks old. But you wouldn't guess it; he was so alert and curious, definitely not the average newborn enveloped in a sleepy fog! Despite his initial eagnerness, he soon lost his interest in modeling--but even when crying he had the most perfect, precious little face, so couldn't help but keep in some of the "out-takes." Except for a few adorable minutes spent snoozing all snuggled in a blue knit blanket, little Reed valiently fought off sleep until after I left for the evening. I loved watching his mother Erin looking at him (he looks SO much like her!), and I enjoyed being in their warm, sunny home, as the evening light streamed in to Reed's nautical nursery. Thank you, Erin, for allowing me to come into your home, move furniture around, and jostle your little fella for a couple hours. I hope that having snap shots of these early moments were worth the chaos!

Julia Elaine: newborn

Over the summer, my friends Ben and Michele welcomed a baby girl, Julia Elaine. What a little cuddle-bear! She looks so much like her daddy to me, and it is just so sweet to see Ben as a father. He scoops her up, and handles her with such ease and tenderness--like he's done this all his life. It is so sweet to see. Julia is now about six months old, but I wanted to make sure to post a few photos captured when she was brand new!

Ava and Tyler: newborn

Over the summer, my dear friends Gretchen and Ann welcomed twins, a boy and a girl. Of course, I couldn't wait to meet the little dears, so I went over to take some photos when they were just a few weeks old. Of course, since it was the thick of my wedding season, I haven't featured them here yet--and they are now six months old! I will soon post their three month session, but for now, take a peek at Tyler and Ava when they were brand new...

Baby Cassandra: newborn

I have only blogged weddings all season, and now that I am soon to enter my "winter lull" (just one more wedding on New Year's day!), I would like to go back and post some of my portrait sessions from the last few months. I have had the opportunity to photograph some lovely little ones and families, and I will try to get a few of them up here. First is sweet baby Cassie, born to our neighbors in August. As the first girl born into a family with two boys, Cassie was a welcome addition, and she is just adored by her parents and proud big brothers Daniel and Jesse (according to Viola, the cute "neighbor-boys" next door). Cassie was plump and angelic just a week after her birth--and with those round cheeks and beautiful head of fluffy black hair, she couldn't have been more photogenic!


She seemed too alert and curious to be just days old!

Julia Grace: Teeny-tiny newborn

Seven weeks ago, my cousin Kelly gave birth fourteen weeks early to a tiny baby girl, Julia Grace. Obviously, at only twenty-six weeks gestation, sweet Julia had a very fragile start. So though I was there and took photos on the day she was born, I have waited to announce her arrival and feature some photos here. But Julia has done beautifully in these seven weeks; all along, she has made strides quickly, and has done better than expected for such a wee little thing. So I think she is ready for her big reveal! Julia is beautiful, and we are all absolutely smitten. She has this golden-red downy hair that reminds me so much of my Viola when she was born...you don't see that hair color often on a teensy newborn!

Kelly and I are very close (we call each other sister-cousins), and I honestly can't think of someone more deserving of this gift of motherhood. Kelly has waited for this little girl for a long time, and Julia has come into a world that is full of open arms waiting to love her and support her and watch her grow.

On to some photos of the little angel...On this particular day (two weeks ago) Julia had her very first bath, and had only just started wearing real clothes (even the preemie clothes are big on her!). She is now, two weeks later, up to almost five pounds, and out of the isolette (the bed with glass cover that looks like she is in outer space or something) and into a regular bassinett. Of course, more photos will follow as Julia grows even stronger, and is finally able to come home!

This is my absolute favorite. While the nurse bathed and changed her, Julia kept craning her neck toward her mother's voice.


The nurse used a TOOTHBRUSH to comb her hair, that's how tiny she is!
